Perfect Combination

"Perfect Combination", the second single from our upcoming EP is out now! What began as a handful of rough-edged demos became “BON VIVANT BALL” - five stories unfolding inside the same surreal dive bar, where every character is searching for connection, escape, or one last chance.

This song is a dreamy throwback to a crooner style, about the possibility and mystery of a chance encounter. Is this the person that will change your life forever, or just another moment lost to time?

I particularly like the way we've “intertwined” the piano and guitar in this track, creating a sense of aching melancholy with the instrumentation.

Lyrics:

I saw the perfect combination tonight
As I recall it did me in just right

I could fall into every one of your words
Laugh until the sound becomes absurd
I saw the pieces intertwine

We’re quite naive where love’s concerned
The inner child controls our every waking turn

They can see thirty years in the blink of an eye
The vision hits like our first sip of wine
Strolling on (and on and on and on) the point of no return

Almost had me, why don’t you try again
Memory is vague on the rules of attraction
Honesty is tragically a cross we must bear
Would you believe me if I say

I’ve seen the perfect combination before
Like a dream, illusions run their course

Hope is unkind, la de da da
The sun rises with the last sip of wine
This philosopher can’t philosophize anymore

Almost had me, why don’t you try again
Memory is vague on the rules of attraction
Honesty is tragically a cross we must bear
Would you believe me
Would you believe me
Would you believe me
Would you believe me
If I say
I saw the perfect combination tonight
