I'm excited to release my first EP: “Broadwood Sketches”! Each of the three songs in this collection is about characters facing change and finding renewal. It's alternatingly sweeping and cinematic, quiet and intimate, abstract and contemplative. A chance to really scratch the “singer songwriter” itch.
I worked on these musical character studies over the course of the last two years at my home on Broadwood Drive (hence the name). I was able to play and develop live versions of these songs at various open mics in the Rockville area, so it truly feels like a homegrown project.
The EP name also has a curious coincidence - “Broadwood Sketches” apparently (unbeknownst to me) refers to designs and drawings from the famous British piano manufacturer John Broadwood & Sons. As a piano playing singer-songwriter, this felt somehow cosmically significant!
The collection has three tracks:
- "How Did We Get Here" - a rock ballad about reconciling the past with the present and navigating the changing tides of a relationship, for anyone who’s ever stood at the edge of goodbye and blinked.
- "She Wants Love" - a meditation on longing and complacency. I was pleased to collaborate with lyricist Ghost the Catalyst on this song about the beauty in what's just out of reach.
- “Jenny (Little Things)” - a simple tune about growing up, shifting perspectives, and finding beauty and purpose in each new season of life. This one I wrote with past collaborator Jason Schraub ("Santa Fe", “Prayer Song”). We wrote the first draft of this song eighteen years ago in high school(!)- and came back to it this past year with an appropriately refreshed point of view.
I hope you find something that speaks to you in these stories! If you'd like to support the work directly, you can purchase the EP or individual tracks from my Bandcamp page:

Track 1: “How Did We Get Here"
Lyrics by Andrew Glor
How did we get here, bitter and cold?
How did we wind up here as partners in an empty one man show?
Another December, where did the time go?
Why do we tell each other stories when that's all she wrote?
You keep a ledger with the score
Waiting for me to come unbound
You don't know what you're fighting for
But you can throw your weight around
How did we get here?
Remember the way to back to memory lane when our feet swept off the ground
I've tried to say its night and day, our North Star's upside down
I want to chart these canyons, map these mountains of our years
We drive each other crazy, don't we, so where do we go from here?
Somebody like you, baggage in tow
You shouldn't have to face the music when I reap the seeds I sow
And ain't we a couple, goodbye and hello
It's like the thunder and the lightning, the hangman and his rope
You leave your passion by the door
And dust it off for friends in town
You can only rest assured
We're not the kind to sleep around
How did we get here?
Remember the way to back to memory lane when our feet swept off the ground
I've tried to say its night and day, our North Star's upside down
I want to chart these canyons, map these mountains of our years
We drive each other crazy, don't we, so where do we go from here?
You wage your private civil war
We lost our love without a sound
And I'm screaming
How did we get here?
Track 2: "She Wants Love"
Lyrics by Andrew Glor and Ghost The Catalyst
She wants love like desert rain
Hard to please, wild and strange
Takes her meds to feel the same
She wants love without the pain
She needs peace like golden waves
All the emotion well contained
Her body's cold, the air is grey
She needs peace to light her way
If you want to waste away the daylight growing old
Like moss upon the castle standing patient by the cove
Well I cannot remember when the wind began to blow
When these roots began to grow, nobody knows, nobody knows
She wears hope like a serenade
Been through hell, played the game
She's barely there, the seams are frayed
She wears hope in every shade
If you want to waste away the daylight growing old
Like moss upon the castle standing patient by the cove
Well I cannot remember when the wind began to blow
When these roots began to grow, nobody knows, nobody knows
She wants love, oh she wants love
She wants love, she wants love
She wants love, whoa yes she does
She wants love without the pain
Track 3: "Jenny (Little Things)"
Lyrics by Andrew Glor and Jason Schraub
The lights go on in the new apartment
Jenny's on the moon for a dinner date
Suddenly she's so far from home
She left town a four leaf clover
Intent the world will know her name
A lucky girl from the east Virginia shore
Whoa she never wanted money
But she always loved a view
In this world well it's hard to make it honest
But sometimes you do
She can dance with the flowers on the corner
Reminds her of the summers of her youth
Its the little things in life that tell the truth
Well the years go by sooner or later
Jenny's unpacked her roller bag
Her dreams don't look the same as they did before
Can't say when she found the rhythm
She feels it when the dogs run by
On the sidewalk as the strangers come and go
Whoa she used to chase the sunshine
Now she walks the morning dew
She remembers everything that she once wanted
On her ordinary Sunday afternoons
And she knows that she used to make assumptions
Now she's walked a mile and broken in her shoes
You end up where you need not where you choose
In this world well it's hard to make it honest
But sometimes you do
She can dance with the flowers on the corner
Reminds her of the summers of her youth
Its the little things in life that tell the truth
